The channel that almost killed the NHL! It was envisioned as a competitor to ESPN in the 80's, and even boasted a bunch of regional channels to serve local markets, including in Philly, but it only reached a fraction of the viewers that ESPN did. When the NHL left ESPN in 1988 to sign an exclusive deal with SportsChannel, they reduced the amount of people that could actually see their games by about 60%. We're not marketing geniuses, but that sounds like a bad move!
